Golang Education Outreach was established in 2002 with a vision to uplift and enhance the educational journeys of under-privileged and vulnerable children. The Outreach is based in the Emthonjeni Community Centre in Honeydew, mainly serving the people living in the informal settlement of Zandspruit.
Golang Education Outreach aims to achieve its vision most effectively by involving ourselves in children’s lives, starting at an early age. We have succeeded in our mission to run a Preschool with 60 children from ages 3 – 6; an Aftercare Centre catering for 200 Primary School children; and a Youth Program for 40 High-Schoolers. This involvement is relationship-based and holistic in character. We endeavour to build into a child’s life and we aim, as far as possible, to nurture and develop all the aspects of a child’s life. We wish to free our children from being dependent on others by equipping and encouraging them to a better life. It is with these goals in mind that Golang Education effectively runs the following projects:
